How to Do Nothing, Hu Bao

Medium: Motion, Typography, Illustration
2020

Inspired by Jenny Odell's New York Times Bestseller, "How to Do Nothing,"multidisciplinary artist Hu Bao seeks to capture the overlooked poetic moments of everyday life through this meditative blend of typography, imagery, and sound. Hu Bao’s "How to Do Nothing" uses the Chinese characters, "鸟鸣" (the sound of the birds), "望窗" (gazing out of the window), and "放空" (daydreaming) to design the grid system around which each posters’ illustrations are arranged. The result is a vibrant exploration of the art of being present, reminding us to appreciate the beauty in life's simple and often unnoticed moments.
